Yes it is, would like to see some views on this!
But for now............

What is Karate-Do?
Briefly, 'Karate' is not as some think - Self-Defence, it should be used for Self-Defence, it is a Fighting System of Blocking, Punching, Striking and Kicking, Using the laws of physics to cause maximum damage with each and every blow, breaking bones and striking nerve points, Briefly, 'Karate' is not as some think - Self-Defence, it should be used for Self-Defence, it is a Fighting System of Blocking, Punching, Striking and Kicking, Using the laws of physics to cause maximum damage with each and every blow, breaking bones and striking nerve points, actually very dangerous. Like I said, this is a very brief summary of Karate, there are other excellent sites with more on this subject which you will find on my 'Web Links'

I think we could liken the 'Do' element to a kind of framework, that we need to have for several reasons. Firstly, we need to foster good self-discipline if we are to succeed, and not just at Karate, this could apply to all of our endeavours. The better our self-discipline, the greater our chances of success.
Secondly, i think that the framework is a useful antidote to the aggression that we deliberately generate with our techniques. Without it, would we all leave the Dojo spoiling for a fight after two hours training? Possibly.
Finally, the Do gives us a moral code without which, what we do would be quite unpalettable. (To learn how to injure, maim and maybe even kill people? With maximum efficiency? And to teach this to children? What sort of person would do that?)
